The AD-Police is an application that blocks adware, spyware, and unwanted intruders from entering Windows systems. It contains a list of over 14000 black listed servers and tracking cookies, plus it updates this list automatically. Users may also add URLs to be blocked in case they are missing in this list.
It integrates smoothly with any browser, and blocks advertisements effectively. It claims to boost Internet browsing and since it blocks banners and all kinds of advertisements the loading of Web pages is speeded up.
When an advertisement is found during your work in the internet, AD-Police opens the Hosts file to add or delete black-listed servers and perform a block. The program does not need to be run constantly, one time is sufficient to block advertisements from regular visited Web sites; however when navigating to new domains it is wise to run the program.
The downside of this application is that it has no support for Windows Vista, and occasionally fails to find the Host files that the program uses to block the advertisements.
